Cape Paramon

Paratunka is a river in Russia, in the southeast of the Kamchatka Peninsula.

The source is in the foothills of Vilyuchinskiy volcano. It flows mainly in the northern direction near the cities of Elizovo, Vilyuchinsk and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy; settlement Thermal, villages Paratunka and Nikolaevka, through the sanatorium-resort area of ​​the same name, stretching along the river valley and its tributaries. It falls into Avacha Bay of the Pacific Ocean. The length is 81 km, the catchment area is 1500 km².

The river is a spawning ground for salmon species. The river is constantly inhabited by rainbow trout, white-spotted char. As a result of poaching, the fish stocks of the river are severely undermined, and the pink salmon and chum populations are almost completely destroyed. Fry of the latter are grown in Paratunka hatchery, which is located near the Thermal village, and then released into the river.

In Nikolaevka there is Cape Paramon at the mouth of the Paratunka River, which is a breeding ground for salmonids.
