Koryak camp "Eyvet" and Andrey Pritchin’s kennel of sled dogs

The Koryaks are divided into namylan (coastal) and chavchuven (reindeer herders). This camp belongs to the fishermen "namylan." The Pritchin family came here from the north of the peninsula, from Karaga, which is located in the narrowest part of Kamchatka. They lived there on the eastern Pacific coast.

The camp is located on the banks of the River Tikhaya, the left tributary of Paratunka river. Now it is the end point of spawning chum.

"Eyvet" is first of all a kennel of sled dogs.

For the peoples of Kamchatka sled dogs were worth their weight in gold. With their help, people went hunting, transported goods when changing camps. Until the end of the 80s of the last century, they went sledding until all-terrain vehicles appeared.
